2017 - MATCH 11 - NEW TROPHY (Not Yet Named) - 20 AUGUST

LEVAS Championship Match 11 (for a Trophy yet to be named) was fished at Beechwood Park on the 40 peg Kingfisher Lake.  This was a joint match with the Soldiers & Sailors (Sawley) Angling Club and as usual was very well attended. Once more, every peg on the two long banks were used with competitors in the corners and on the lake ends given more space by leaving some pegs out.

Paul Richardson on peg 37 once again showed his mastery of the venue with another very impressive display to put 78-10 of carp on the scales for a clear win.  Paul fished a feeder with pellet bait, kept the fish interested for most of the match, and caught mainly carp in the three to five pound size range.

On the opposite bank veteran Ivan Carrier (who demonstrated he still has the skill and expertise that made him a National Champion), and John Adamson battled it out for second place and had to content themselves with a dead heat, both putting 62-00 on the scales.

Ivan (on peg 17) caught his fish on method feeder baited with pellet, while John, who had mainly a smaller stamp of fish from peg 11, alternated between pole/paste at 11m and a method feeder (baited with luncheon meat) cast to the island.

Steve Hoult filled fourth place from peg 20 with 58-06, followed by Paul Marriott (fifth) with 54-00 from peg 32 and Chris Hales (Sixth) with 41-08 from peg 2.

Nigel Brailsford continues to lead the Championship with 156 points, Rob Pembridge in second on 148, Steve Hoult third with 144 and Les Smedley fourth on 143.

Championship match 12 (another joint match with Soldiers & Sailors AC) will be on Hacketts Lake on Sunday 10 September.  Don't forget to book a place if you want to fish!
