REPORT

Members of Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society fished round 15 of their 2020 Championships on Lake Two at Makins, where members also competed for the Centenary Cup.

The cold start to the day combining with the Easterly wind led to a slow start, although sport for many picked up as the day progressed.

Championship leader John Adamson enhanced his position by winning the match with 112-03 of carp from peg B13.  John fished method feeder to catch his fish with pellet bait, and fishing close to the island caught fish is short spells between quiet times throughout the day.

Dave Kent on peg A11 took second place with 92-00 of carp.  He caught 6 fish on bomb and pellet for 30-00 of his weight, the remaining  60-00 consisting of 7 carp taken on pole (top two plus two) with meat bait.

Third placed Matt Gaetto (peg B21) caught 12 carp on pellet waggler, while fourth placed Malc Munn caught on a variety of methods including method feeder, bomb and pellet adding two big fish from his margins on worm.

Steve Hoult was fifth from peg A15 with 55-05 taken on pole and pellet from open water and the margins, with Mick Lager’s 45-00 from peg A9 in sixth place.

The winner of the silver fish (non-carp) prize was Steve Welch with 25-05 of skimmer bream taken on pole and pellet. He filled seventh place overall with a total of 40-15.

The top four in the Championships are John Adamson with 229 points, Les Smedley 205, Dave Kent 192, Mick Lager 187.

Match 16 is at Birch House Lakes on Kingfisher Lake on Sunday 27 September.
