REPORT

There was another excellent attendance for LEVAS’s Championship Match 17, which had been moved from Shelt Hill Fishery, which remains closed for competitions due to Covid-19, to the Railway Lake at Aldercar Fishery.

Anglers were not expecting to catch a great deal as the recent rains had chilled and coloured the water, but were pleasantly surprised with the results, as fish fed all around the lake producing some decent weights.

Dave Cotterill was the winner, and fishing peg 16 at the car park end of the lake he caught carp to around eight pounds is weight from a variety of areas of his peg on every bait he tried.  His final weight of 93-08 made him a comfortable winner.

On peg 8, Dick Abbott had a relatively slow start, but by feeding and fishing dead red maggots in his margins, in spite of several lost “foul hookers”, he managed to get the fish feeding with abandon in the final 90 minutes for his 66-07 second placed weight.

Mick Lager filled third place with 59-13 from peg 30 which included several big carp, the first on pellet from the track and the rest from his margins on worm, with Glen Holmes (peg 2) taking fourth place with a 54-09 weight of carp.

Fifth placed Jonathon Leivers (peg 14) had 53-01, which included 31-13 of “silvers” which took the silvers prize, with Malc Munn’s 49-13 of margin caught carp (worm bait) filling the sixth place.

The leaders in the points are: John Adamson 241; Mick Lager 217; Les Smedley 216; Dave Kent 216; Keith White 182.

Match 18 will be on Grange Pond on Sunday 11 October.
