REPORT

Championships round Seven was also scheduled as the LEVAS Annual Outing, and the anglers were fishing for the R S Kirkland Memorial Trophy.  Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 restrictions, there was no after match meal.

The match was held at the popular Blake Hall Fishery at Cheadle, near Stoke, on one of their oldest lakes, Blake Lake.  The extremely heavy overnight thunderstorms and rain had an adverse effect on sport, and although the top three weights were respectable, the “back-up” weights were rather disappointing.

Steve Hoult on peg 32 switched between pellet waggler and bomb and pellet throughout the match and managed to put 87-11 of carp on the scales for the win.

On peg 29, John Adamson fished method feeder tight to a bush on the end of an island, and baiting with pellet caught the odd carp (fish from 3 to 8 lbs), then backed this with 15-14 of bream taken on paste and pole for 82-07 for second place.

On the opposite bank, Mick Lager continued his hot form with another excellent display for third place with 52-07, which included 19-13 of “silvers” which took the silvers prize.

Ivan Carrier was fourth with 24-00 from peg 8, Keith White fifth with 21-14 from peg 17, Dave Cotterill filling sixth place with 15-07 (all silvers) from peg 6.

The Pairs prize went to John Adamson and Steve Welch with a combined weight of 96-08.

John Adamson moved into the lead in the Championship with 101 points, Keith White is on 100, and Mick Lager 99.

Round 8 of the Championship is on Sunday 2 August on Grange Pond.  You need to book in to fish it.

The photos are of the day's match sheet, and the top three placed anglers, Steve Hoult, John Adamson and Mick Lager.
