REPORT

For the second successive week anglers fishing the LEVAS Championship (Match 4) had to contend with a very strong and gusting wind which tested them to the extreme, but once again there were fish caught.

Fishing for the Victoria Cup, members lined the banks of the Moat Pool at Rycroft.  For many, bomb and pellet proved to be the best way of presenting a bait, and the top two, Les Smedley (peg 24) and Keith White (peg 11) -who is enjoying a superb season so far-, used the method to good effect to fill the top two places, both catching carp up to around 8 lbs in weight.  Les ended with 49-13 for first place, Keith close behind with 49-01 for second.

In contrast, the next two, John Adamson (peg 14) and Mick Lager (peg 13) both caught mainly on the pole. John, who ended with 44-05 for third place had all of his fish on pole and paste, whilst Mick’s 40-01 fourth placed weight, (which included 17-08 of silvers taken on pole and worm to win the “Silvers” prize, also included several bomb and pellet caught carp.

Bill Peach was fifth with 31-01 from peg 8, Nigel Brailsford sixth with 30-08 from peg 21.
