REPORT

LEVAS Championship Match Five, also for the Harry Mountney Memorial Trophy, was fished at Rycroft Fishery, Hemington, over the two “canal lakes” known as Old Canal and New Canal and was also fished jointly with Soldiers & Sailors (Sawley) Angling Club.

Although the weather appeared ideal, warm, sultry with long sunny periods, in general the fish failed to cooperate and both lakes fished well below their potential.

John Adamson continued his good run to win the match with a weight of 77-01 from Old Canal peg 2. John caught bream, tench, ide and carp on paste at 10m plus a run of carp on the method feeder in the last hour that secured his win.

Rob Pembridge (Old Canal peg 8) fished on his top two with maggot bait to catch lots of silvers, and added a few decent carp for his 47-00 total weight for second place, Steve Hoult winning the New Canal from peg 8, and coming third overall, with 40-08 of carp, mainly caught on banded pellet fished to the far bank plus some decent carp from the margins towards the end on double worm fished over micro pellets.

Dave Hilliard on Old Canal peg 18 was fourth with 30-01, Paul Richardson in fifth and taking second place on the New Canal from peg 6 with 29-01, Alan Welch (New Canal peg 2) filing sixth spot with 27-00.

Steve Hoult continues to dominate the Championship with a total of 93 points out of a possible 100, followed by Rob Pembridge on 64, Paul Marriott 63, Dave Cotterill with 60, then Bill Peach and Paul Richardson each with 58 points.

The next match is on Sunday 21 July on Grange Pond, so members need to book in with the Match Secretary (Dave Kent) to secure a place
