Report:
LEVAS Championship Match 16 (also for the Andy Radford Memorial Trophy) was fished at Birch House Lakes at Edmonton on the Kingfisher Lake, and on a cool and clear autumn morning the 20 competitors were spaced all around the lake.
Matt Gaetto continued his sparkling form with another clear win, this time putting seven carp on the scales for a weight of 42-15 from peg 14. Like many competitors Matt struggled for bites in the first half of the match, but by feeding micros down his left margin (at the end of the lake where he had a two clear pegs to the next angler) and fishing long pole baited with worm, he managed to find enough feeding carp to comfortably win the match.
On peg 13, Jonathan Leivers targeted skimmer bream from the start and was soon into fish. He caught these steadily throughout the day to put 26-06 of them on the scales to take the “silvers” prize, before a quick try in his margin produced a carp that added a further 5-00 to give him 31-06 for second place.
Steve Hoult (peg 25) caught 4-14 of skimmers and a few carp on bomb and pellet, then from the margins in the latter stages for his 30-03 for third place, Keith White taking fourth place with 19-12 from peg 9.
Fifth, sixth and seventh weights all came from the opposite end of the lake to the winner, Dave Cotterill (peg 25) with 18-05, Bill Peach (peg 2) with 15-14 (both on end pegs) then Dave Kent with 13-13 from peg 7.

Match 17 (next Sunday 4 October) will be on the Railway Lake at Aldercar Fishery (Not Shelt Hill which remains closed because of Covid-19).
