REPORT

The LEVAS Championship round 8 (which was also for the W Camm Cup) was fished at Grange Pond by seventeen members.

John Adamson continued his decent form by winning from peg 20 with a weight of 77-09.  John started the match on pole and after fifteen minutes landed a carp of around eight pounds. Over the next hour he hooked and lost 3 more carp of similar size before his swim died.  Halfway through the match he switched to methods feeder at around 30 yards and caught several carp, including one of around twelve pounds, then, after he lost another “double” at the net that swim died as well.  He added one more fish just before the end.

On “island peg” peg 23, Matt Gaetto also landed a single carp on the pole, then after failing to get further bites he switched to pellet waggler fished towards the island which produced fish steadily until an hour from the end when it went quiet for him as well. Although he exceeded his target of 10 fish, his final tally of 13 weighed 60-10 which secured him second place.

Martin Pacey (peg 27) was third with a mainly waggler caught 40-04, followed by Les Smedley with 38-03 from peg 28, Steve Hoult with 29-14 from peg 8, Andy Buckle 29-01 from peg 29, Dan Gaetto 29-01 from peg 13.

Andy Buckle won the silver fish prize with 8-05.

The top three in the Championship are: John Adamson 121 points, Mick Lager with 110, and Les Smedley on 107.

Round nine will also be for the K Smith Cup and will be fished at Aston Park Lakes on “Split Lake” on Sunday 9 August.
