REPORT
In spite of the Covid19 “lockdown” which means that anglers without own transport and those in isolation are unable to fish, which has reduced numbers available, eighteen anglers managed to fish the second LEVAS Championship match of the year, which was staged on the big lake at Hackett’s Lakes, near Nottingham.
Unfortunately, the fish failed to cooperate which generally lead to low weights, but fortunately for most the wind was favourable so they were able to withstand the weather with varied through sunshine, strong and gusting winds, heavy rain, thunder and lightening with longish dry spells.
Nigel Brailsord on peg 51, who has a superb record on the venue, fished method feeder at long range for much of the day to tempt carp to around 10 lbs in weight to total 40-07 for a clear win.
On peg 43, Mick Lager also found that the method feeder worked, and baiting with dead red maggots found three carp to put 25-13 on the scales for second place, just ahead of another venue expert, Keith White, who had 14-15 of bream in his 23-09 third placed weight from peg 42.
Bill Rutherford took the “silvers” prize for the second match running with an all silvers (bream and roach) catch or 21-13, taken on worm, which also secured fourth place, with Dave Hilliard (peg 50) in fifth with 14-05 and Dave Kent (peg 36) sixth with 13-03.
The next match is on Sunday 28th at Robinwood (Lake Two).
