COVID-19 MATCH RULES

Thursday, 04 June 2020 18:03

LONG EATON VICTORIA ANGLING SOCIETY.

Operating Rules and guidelines for Society matches from 1st June 2020

                         During ongoing Covid-19 related restrictions.

  1. DO NOT consider entering a Society match if you have or suspect you have Covid-19 symptoms.
  2. Entries can be taken a match in advance at the draw as normal. Otherwise entry or withdrawal by email or phone to the Match Secretary ideally by close of play on the Friday prior to match day. This will enable pegging to be finalised in accordance with Covid guidelines.
  3. In order to maintain social distancing rules all members MUST drive alone to each Society match (unless from the same household)
  4. Ensure you use hand sanitiser and/or gloves at each match
  5. On arrival at the venue park carefully to ensure that social distancing is maintained at all times.
  6. At some fisheries breakfast refreshments may be available (Cafes not open yet!!). These will need to be consumed outside.

On-site shops will probably be closed although where a fishery feed pellet rule in place there will probably be an opportunity to purchase these again from an outside sale point.

Please note toilets at some fisheries may not be open.

  1. Entry fees will be £20 per match. Peg fees are increasing yearly so we were due to review fees this year anyway but £20 at this time is primarily to minimise the risk of handling cash and make the payout easier.

Please try to bring an assortment of notes ie £5, £10 & £20

On a single lake the payout will be top three anglers (irrespective of entry) plus sections as appropriate.   Where a match covers multiple lakes the payout will be by lake plus an overall winner or win bonus just as we always have done. As normal this will be announced at the draw.

Members will retain silvers and carp in separate nets (where fishery rules allow). Each net will be weighed separately. An amount (probably £20?) will be paid for the heaviest silvers net.

  1. Remember that the virus can survive on surfaces for up to 3 days so use your sanitiser and try to avoid touching your face

Draw.

  • I will require an Assistant to help with the draw. Both will wear gloves
  1. I will call out each member’s name in accordance with their position on

the Match Entry sheet (ie No1 down to No 20 etc).   The member will come forward and put the correct entry fee into a tub. The Draw Assistant will then draw the peg number and call it out. I will record the members name on the weigh sheet against the peg drawn.

The angler will then return immediately to his vehicle and proceed to the peg they have drawn. There must be NO contact with any other member

  • On completion of the draw I will reconcile the monies, pay the peg/lake fees and make up the payout envelopes

Weigh in

  • The weighing team will comprise two people. Both will wear gloves

throughout the process.  The Scalesman will carry and position the tripod, scales and weigh sheet. The Weigh Assistant will carry the weigh tub / net. No-one else will touch any of this equipment during the weigh in.

  • At each peg the tripod and scales will be positioned and the Weigh

Assistant will place the tub/net on the scales for zeroing.  He will then place the tub/net on the ground two metres from the angler and step back. The angler will step forward to transfer his fish into the weigh tub/net then step back two metres. The Weigh Assistant will move in and place the tub/net on the scales before stepping back. The scales steward will move in to call and record the weight and then step back. The Weigh Assistant will take the tub/net from the scales and return the fish to the water.

On completion of the weighing of his fish the member MUST take his equipment straight to his vehicle. NO visiting another angler . Anglers MUST NOT follow the scales. Anyone doing so risks being disqualified.

Payout

  • On completion of the weigh in members MUST stand by their vehicles in the parking area. NO wandering around
  • I will place the payout envelopes on the rear of my car in order, step away and call out the principal/section winners in turn. They will step forward to collect their envelope and return immediately to their vehicle.
  • There must be no “after match huddles”.
