REPORT

LEVAS’s nineteenth and penultimate match of 2019 Championships was held on a very dull and damp day at Birch House Lakes (Brailsford) on the Horseshoe Pool. The well attended match was also fished for the Fletcher Cup, and was the club’s annual Christmas “Fur & Feather” match, with competitors fishing for various meat prizes, and with the winner receiving a turkey.

Keith White managed to put a stop to his recent run of second places by recording a convincing win, putting 67-14 of carp on the scales from corner peg 20. By fishing at 13m, Keith alternated between soft pellet and corn baits to keep fish interested and caught steadily throughout the day to win the turkey.

Ivan Carrier also carried some decent form into the match and fishing from peg 25 secured second place with 39-11, most of his fish coming to pole and pellet but with the odd one on bomb and corn.

Paul Marriott (peg 9) was third with 38-02 of carp, mainly caught in the deeper water in front of him against a bed of lilies, with the occasional fish from his right margin, Steve Hoult (peg 22) filling fourth with 36-08 of carp, all taken on pole and pellet.

Rob Pembridge (peg 13) was fifth with 33-06, Malc Munn in sixth from peg 32 with 28-11.

With a round to go Steve Hoult has secured the 2019 Championship as he now has a 21 point lead going into the final match, with second and third places yet to be decided.

Steve Hoult now has 261 points, followed by Les Smedley on 240 and Paul Marriott on 239 battling out for second and third places.

Rob Pembridge is fourth with 213 points, followed by John Adamson 204, Malc Munn 197, and Dave Cotterill on 191.

The final match is at Robinwood on Lake Two on Sunday 1 December.
