OCTOBER (21ST) 2024 GRANGE POND

Tuesday, 22 October 2024 19:04

Following on from the notice that the Pond has re-opened, I thought a further update would be in order as I popped down yesterday (Monday 21st) to give it a try, fishing from 11am to 4pm.

Firstly, in the dry weather and assisted by falling leaves, the banks are not slippery or too muddy.  At the end of the session my barrow wheel was cleaner that when I arrived!

Some pegs have a covering of water, so care is needed if these are fished, but most are accessible.

I just had a lazy day fishing the feeder (pellet on the feeder and pellet as bait) and landed 7 carp (all between 5 and 10 lbs), losing two through "hook pulls", and had  an estimated 46 to 50 lbs of fish.  I fished peg 10.  No bream although the peg was "fizzing" at times.

There were other anglers also fishing, and a gentleman and a young lad on peg 11 fished maggot for silvers and they caught roach all day, including some decent fish.

I have added a few photos (the sun came out at as I was packing up).

I would suggest that members should take advantage of the weather and get down to Grange Pond before we get frosts.  There are fish in there waiting to be caught.
